I will attempt to get some live photo coverage for
you via a webcam this year but no promises. It can get kind of
tricky. The photos at the top left of this page will be from the
Diamondhead webcam. It will not be on all the time however.
If you click the link below the images it will take you to another page
with two more links. These two links will have 15 images. So
there will be a total of 30 images, each snapped 1 minute apart.
So you will be able to see the happenings over the last 30 minutes.
I am not sure how well this will work but we will give it a try

After 18 hours or so, we have made it back to
Diamondhead. Same old place just some new carpet. I will be
posting photo coverage of the event to a Google account. This lets
me post the images faster and uses Googles faster servers and bandwidth.
You can see images from the last two years and this year by going to
this Google page:

Pictures are organized into albums and there should be 1 album for each
day.

Added a little retrospect page to the layout
section since I failed to really document all that happened with the
DC&H Garden Railway at its previous southern location.
Check it out here. Next on the agenda
will be to bring the site up to speed on the DC&H Northern raised layout
and on the expansion of the portable track I made back in March of 2003.

Like an old barn, my web site has been suffering
from neglect. So much has happened in the last few years but
little has changed here. It is time to make a new commitment to
the site. To continue in the high style of journalism as is
becoming of the DC&H! Looking back on previous posts I realized
how nice it is to have these memories to reflect upon. Without
them listed here, they are basically forgotten. So in the process
of moving forward I want to look back and fill in some of the gaps from
the last few years.

Some pictures of the house and the local
barns during the beautiful winter snow.
The snow is falling.

As you can see, I have moved the Rail Cam
to the top of the page. When the cam is on you can see that the
raised track is coming along nicely. The framing is completed and
I started on the road bed last night. I should be running next
weekend for the holiday!

If you have
been watching the web cam at the bottom of this page then you will have
noticed that assembly of the new raised DC&H Railway has begun.
Assembly will continue throughout the week and I am hoping that by
August 21st I will be ready to start laying track. Keep watching
this site for more photos and updates. The DC&H Railway Cam, at
the bottom of this page, should be on most of the time now.

The Southern Michigan branch of the DC&H
railway is now a thing of the past. The Mid-Michigan branch is
starting to take shape on paper and the first 90 feet of raised
straight, dual main line, frame work has been completed in the garage.
Hopes are high that actual assembly of the structure might take place
over the holiday weekend.
The new home for the DC&H is just over 2 acres so there is lots of room
for expansion. The first phase will be a dual main line of
approximately 220 feet per line. In phase two I hope to add a
large steamup area and switching yard.
Lots of ideas but little time and money at the moment. Keep
checking back for updates and watch the Live DC&H Web Cam at the bottom
of the page. When the cam is on it will show the area of the new
layout. |
