12-31-01  Another year has passed for the DC&H Railway.  Although there are still lots of things I wish I could have done, there was a lot accomplished.  The layout size tripled, I installed 3 new ponds and built an observation/engineering deck.
The future holds lots more.  I have lots of pictures and information to add to this site that I can hopefully do this winter.  I will be attending the Diamondhead Steam-up in just over a week and I will have lots of pictures to share.
I hope everyone has found this site informative and maybe a little fun over the last year.  I really look forward to 2002 and all the projects just waiting to be done!   Happy New Year!

11-18-01  The weather is turning and the Live Steamers from the Dark Side had to get out once more and run on the DC&H Railway!  Check it out!

Truck.jpg (106213 bytes)10-25-01  I always intended to make this more of a How-To web site.  And I also seem to have 3-4 projects going at once.  I just never take the time to follow-up and document my projects like I should.  So in an attempt to make this site more useful I have added another short How-To article on Kit Bashing a New Bright 4XFOURS Truck.

Colorado-New-Light.jpg (73713 bytes)10-06-01  Got together with Fred today and worked on updating some locos.  We removed the normal headlights and installed Super Bright LED lights that run off of 3 "AA" batteries wired in series.  Wow, this makes all the difference in the world.  And they only draw 20ma of power so they should last for hours and hours on the "AA" batteries.

Fred changed the light in his Colorado Live Steam engine so we had to try it out.  Even though the wind was howling and it was 42 degrees!  I'll post some "How To" info soon about changing the lights, power supply and LED resources.

At 42 degrees it took a little bit to get a head of steam.

09-26-01  Got a chance to take Ruby out for a run the other afternoon when is was 46 degrees and light rain.  Just wanted to see how it would run in the cold.  She ran great but kind of short.  You use up a lot of fuel when it gets cold.  Had some nice plumes though.

09-24-01  Added a few more pictures from last Saturdays Steam-up from Fred, who attended and ran his Ruby and Colorado.  Link to additional pictures.

09-15-01  On September 22nd I will be hosting another Steam-up for the Live Steamers in our club.  If you are a live steamer and Troy, Michigan is within your reach, drop me an e-mail.  We would be glad to have you stop by and do some running with us.

09-14-01  We are all railroad fans and in light of the recent events we can see how important it is to have a strong Railway Infrastructure.  With the lack of Air Travel our country has come to a crawl.  We need a strong passenger and freight rail system and I urge you to contact our government officials and express your opinion's.  Contact information is listed in the Garden Railway Links section.  If you would like to see the letter I sent, you can see it here.

09-11-01  My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been effected by this incredible act of terrorism.  I encourage each person to contact their Senators, Representatives, the Vice President and President of the United States.  Send them an e-mail and let them know this is not acceptable.  I have added Government Contact Information to the Garden Railway Links Section.
